Being Delivered Through Hard Times

During the Pandemic I made a quantum leap from being a high school math teacher to delivering for DoorDash. My morning deliveries often brought me to Fairfield, the next town over, and I often stopped and had coffee with my cousin and a couple of friends, Bob and Alexa.

During our coffee visits, I started telling stories, crazy experiences with students, remaking my front yard as a sanctuary for hummingbirds and butterflies, chasing bears in the Marble Mountains, finding ways to encourage homeless so they could buy a house, amazing stories of my children’s fitness journey, and my rags to riches adoption story.

After several weeks of telling stories, Alexa told me that I should write a book. I spent several months trying to figure out what book to write. What I discovered is that my life began with my adoption story. That book had to be first.

When I thought further, I recognized that the gem in my story was not my experiences alone. As an adoptee, I had my story, but to bring the story alive, I needed the experiences of a birth mother. Cheryl’s amazing story brought color to my story and our combined stories fit together very well.
